Rare Footed Bowl by Salvatore Meli

Glazed earthenware. Large-scale bowl with exaggerated handles and tall center base.  Sicilian-born and active in Rome, Salvatore Meli drew from the richness and dignity of Etruscan and Greek pottery, establishing a style that was distinct from his contemporaries. Pieces by Meli are very rare to find.
