Rare Sculptural Armchair by Gio Ponti

Italy | c. 1952 Beach wood, fabric. Sculptural form with faceted legs and stretchers. Likely produced by Cassina. This 1952 experimental armchair was the prototype for the designs that Ponti developed for the two villas in Caracas (Planchart and Arreaza), as well as his "Diamond Line" sofa and chairs produced for Cassina.

Condition: Very good condition. The wood appears to have been refinished at some point and more recently had a surface cleaning. New upholstery added.
